Priority Health & Molina Medicaid Patients Must Choose New Medicaid Payor

September 5, 2024

Priority Health lost their bid for Michigan’s Region 8 to be a Medicaid payor.  Molina lost their bid as well. Region 8 is comprised of the following Michigan counties:  Berrien, Cass, VanBuren, Kalamazoo, Calhoun, St. Joseph, and Branch.

All Priority Health Medicaid and Molina patients were sent a letter by the State informing them and asking them to choose a different Medicaid health plan.  The state has given them a couple of weeks to do so.  If the Medicaid patients don't choose a new Medicaid payor, or if they didn't get the letter, the State will auto-assign them to any of the remaining Medicaid options in our region:

  • Aetna Better Health
  • McLaren
  • Meridian Health Plan
  • United Healthcare’s Community Plan

Lakeland Care has contracts with all four of the above. We have a very good working relationship with Aetna Better Health and we find them to be very responsive.  The effective date for the Medicaid patients under their newly chosen plan is October 1, 2024.
