All Lakeland Care providers are now required to access CHAMPS to register in the Michigan Medicaid program. Registering in the Michigan Medicaid program does not require you to be a Medicaid FFS provider. The State of Michigan is requiring this change in accordance with the 21st Century Cures Act. Section 5005(b)(2) of the 21st Century Cures Act amended Section 1932(d) of the Act to provide that, “not later than January 1, 2018, a state shall require that, in order to participate as a provider in the network of a managed care entity …the provider is enrolled…with the State agency...”
Effective January 1, 2018, failure to enroll in CHAMPs will result in claim denials.
