UHC Sending Appeal Decisions Digital-only Starting March 4

Are you ready for digital-only appeal decision letters?

Starting March 4, appeal decision letters for commercial and Medicare Advantage plans are going fully digital. Instead of mailed copies, you’ll view them exclusively online 24/7 starting on the day they’re generated.

Who this change affects
This change affects most* Medicare Advantage (including Dual Special Needs) and commercial network medical health care professionals (primary and ancillary) and facilities nationwide.

How to view appeal decision letters online
Appeal decision letters can be viewed 1 of 2 ways:

  1. View in Document Library: Our secure online repository of claim-related communication and reports within the UnitedHealthcare Provider Portal. We’ll send an email notice to the address on file when new letters are available, and you can also check Document Library at any time.
    • Go to UHCprovider.com > Sign In
    • Sign in to the portal with your One Healthcare ID and password
    • Go to Documents and Reporting > Document Library > Appeals and Disputes folder

  Explore Document Library

Note: Document Library notifications are currently limited to 1 email address per tax ID number (TIN) for each type of document. If you have multiple staff members who need to be notified when new letters are available, your Primary Access Administrator may want to consider setting up a group mailbox. That group mailbox can be designated to receive Document Library notifications.

  Paperless Delivery Options for Primary Access Administrators

  1. View using API: Consider Application Programming Interface (API) if you have significant claims volume and either automate correspondence intake or prefer an option other than looking up individual items in Document Library. Setup times vary, but can be lengthy. Please plan well in advance to incorporate API into your workflow.
