The Lakeland Medical Office Association (LMOA) invites you to attend our March luncheon and meeting.
PROGRAM: The Reality of Human Trafficking in Michigan
Sex trafficking does not happen only in big cities. It is an evil that lurks throughout this country and around the world. It’s time to expose the darkness. Come hear a personal story of survival, from Melinda, a human trafficking survivor.
Melinda's first memories in life were of being abused. This was a constant in her life through her whole childhood and young adulthood as she was constantly raped and sold to others for their sexual needs. She had nobody … but hope in dark situations is found throughout her story.
Join us for lunch and this very informative, somber, yet real presentation about Human Trafficking.
At this presentation, you’ll learn about:
- Human Trafficking Definition and Examples
- Statistics for Michigan and Berrien County
- Warning Signs
- Medical Symptoms & Physical Concerns
- How to Care for Victims from a Survivor’s Perspective
- SW MI Human Trafficking Task Force and other Resources
- What You Can Do to Help
