AETNA - SNF Authorization Waivers Temporary Update

Hello Hospital Partner-

COVID is surging across the US with many providers requesting assistance because of the rise in cases and shortage of staff.  Aetna recognizes the need to move to a National SNF Waiver effective today, January 6, 2022 through January 31, 2022. The attached communication has been updated to reflect the expansion.

Attached notice will be updated on Aetna.com but we wanted to make you aware timely so you could distribute to appropriate staff.  Aetna end of Nov. liberalized SNF Auths from Acute Care Hospitals since through 1/10/22 but now has been extended.

Full notice and details attached to use for distribution, please share as needed within your system.

**Note, is only for acute care hospital to SNFs authorizations, and they still need to notify (electronically preferred) within 48 hours and send medical records within 3 days of admission
